Circuit Court Records  The first Court of Law and Equity in Monroe County, TN was  Circuit Court, which heard both Civil and Criminal Cases. CIRCUIT COURT LOOSE RECORDS contain the loose paper pleadings filed in the Monroe County, TN Circuit Court, and contain the original pleadings, such as complaints, answers, depositions, summons, final judgments, etc.  Some files are complete, but most files do not contain all the original documents filed in each case. CIRCUIT COURT MINUTE BOOKS contain cases filed in the Circuit Court for Monroe County, TN, and were heard before a judge, or a judge and a jury.  Most entries are either final judgments or continuances.
