Prior to 1832 Monroe County Chancery Court cases were heard in the Chancery Court for Roane County, TN. By 1832 the Chancery Court system became over-crowded and a Chancery Court was established in Monroe County, TN for the counties of Monroe, McMinn, and Blount. Blount County established their own Chancery Court in 1850, but some Chancery Court records for McMinn County can be found in the Monroe County records until 1871.

Minute Books record cases heard in open court before the Chancellor.

Loose records consist of original complaints, answers, depositions, final decrees, and summons, etc. Some files are complete, while some consist of only a few pages.

Rule Dockets contain cases set for hearing and contain rules and orders entered by the Clerk and Master.
